Backgrounder: Charles Kushner
Another day, another convicted felon in the next Trump administration.
It’s fairly common for presidents to grant ambassadorships to people with no diplomatic experience. It’s also a regular occurrence for a president to give the cushiest diplomatic positions to people to whom they may owe political favors.
What’s uncommon is a president bestowing an ambassadorship to one of our most important allies on a disbarred attorney who is also a convicted felon who just happens to be his daughter’s father-in-law who he also happened to pardon during his previous administration.
Ya got all that?
All that, however, is exactly what is happening with Donald Trump’s nomination of Charles Kushner as the United States Ambassador to France. What’s also without parallel is the fact that Kushner’s nomination barely registers as more than a blip on our media’s radar in terms of unqualified administration appointees and nominees.
