The current battle between Democrats and Republicans is unusually asymmetrical. But Democrats can and should step up to make it at least an evenly matched fight.

Since Nov. 5, Democrats have appeared to be in a persistent state of shock. There’s been an abundance of wound-licking and navel-gazing. There’s been a profusion of finger-pointing and ample evidence of an ongoing circular firing squad. There have been reports of meetings in which party leaders are discussing changes to Democratic strategy.

One thing I haven't read about is any plans for Democrats to go on the offensive. That is surprising, considering that the Democrats probably have more ammunition to fire at the GOP than at any time in recent history, and perhaps more than at any time in either party’s history.

The Republicans put forward an adjudicated rapist and convicted felon as their candidate, an advocate for autocracy, who somehow won the election and now has nominated the biggest gaggle of crooks and weirdos and other assorted miscreants as his cabinet.
