Sympathy for the Devil
It's correct to condemn the murder of a health insurance exec. It's also correct to examine the reasons why such a crime might take place.
I don’t usually start my posts with a disclaimer, but it somehow seems necessary, considering the subject matter. I do not advocate violence as an activism strategy. I deplore the fact that someone has shot and killed Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, in what appears to be a pre-meditated targeted killing.
That said, given the current environment of a country that turns a blind eye to gun violence (at least legislatively) coupled with a healthcare system that clearly puts profits first and often leaves patients out in the cold or bankrupt, it isn’t surprising that such a killing has occurred.
