Has Matt Gaetz finally met his demise? Probably not.

Not if the Republican Party has anything to say about it. They’ve made every excuse possible for him. The party only started to turn on him when things started to look like he was going to be dragged through the mud publicly that enough of the party faithful put pressure on him to resign. Of course, that was was more about damage control for the party than it was about taking a moral or ethical stand.

Matt Gaetz is emblematic of everything that is wrong with the Republican Party. He’s a “nepo baby” who, without his father’s success in Florida politics, would be nowhere. The recently released House Ethics Committee’s report confirmed what his colleagues and many others already knew: He’s a sexual predator. He’s corrupt. He’s a user of illegal drugs.
