Trump must go to bed every night marveling at how he has managed to escape punishment for his crimes. Just as some of the consequences of his lifelong behavior were starting to catch up with him, he managed to continue his con on the American people successfully enough to get back into office. Winning the 2024 election has made his gloating even more insufferable.
As I’ve said previously, it’s not difficult to make the case that the only reason he ran for office in 2024 was to keep himself out of prison. Once again, he has used the levers of government and the law to avoid punishment.
Familiarly, though, it’s his supporters who continue to accuse everyone else of “lawfare,” even though it is Donald himself who has manipulated the legal system — both as a private citizen and as a supposedly public servant — to achieve his ends.
The result of Trump perpetually escaping consequences is that he has created the illusion that he is somehow “Teflon” or “untouchable.” But it’s worth rememb…
